A website card, a product gallery and a social post can use the same photograph, but they rarely need the same crop or export size. Keep one original and create separate delivery copies for each destination.

Write down the destination requirements
Check the actual upload instructions or the component where the image will appear. Record the aspect ratio, pixel dimensions, supported formats, file-size limit and whether transparency is needed.
Do not confuse a display ratio with a pixel count. A 16:9 rectangle can be 1600 by 900 pixels or 800 by 450 pixels. They have the same shape but different amounts of image data.
For a website you control, inspect the real card size and its responsive behaviour. A wide desktop image may become a tighter crop on mobile. Keep essential subjects away from edges that the layout is likely to hide.
Choose the crop before reducing resolution
Use Crop Image to define the composition. For a portrait in a landscape card, decide whether the face, surrounding context or a piece of text is the essential subject.
Cropping after a large resize can leave too few pixels for the selected area. Work from the original or the highest-quality available copy while making composition decisions.
If you need to preserve the full image, consider whether the destination supports fitting it within a frame rather than filling the frame. Cropping and stretching are not equivalent: stretching changes the subject's proportions.
Resize to a deliberate output
Open Image Resizer and preserve aspect ratio unless you intentionally cropped to the target ratio first. For example, a 4000 by 3000 image reduced to 1200 pixels wide should be 900 pixels high at the same ratio.
A fictional 1200 by 675 banner uses a different ratio, so simply forcing those dimensions would distort the original. Crop to the intended shape first, or use a layout that preserves the original ratio.
Enlarging a small image creates more output pixels but cannot recover detail missing from the source. Inspect faces, lettering and fine edges at the intended display size rather than judging only the thumbnail.
Match the format to the content
Use Image Converter or the dedicated format tools to create an output the destination accepts. JPEG is commonly used for photographs; PNG is useful where transparency or crisp graphic detail matters; WebP can be useful when the receiving system supports it.
Those are starting points, not a universal ranking. Compare the same image in the required context. A format that produces a smaller photograph may not be the best choice for a diagram with fine text.
Read the image-format comparison for more detail. Converting a low-quality JPEG to PNG does not restore lost detail, and converting a transparent image to JPEG requires a background because JPEG does not preserve alpha transparency.
Compress once from a good working copy
Use Image Compressor and compare the result with the working source. Check areas with gradients, hair, small text and high-contrast edges, where artifacts can be easier to spot.
If the output is too large, consider whether its dimensions exceed the destination's needs. A smaller image at a more suitable resolution may look better than a very large image compressed aggressively.
Avoid taking the latest lossy export through repeated cycles of editing and compression. Keep the original and create another delivery attempt from the best appropriate source when changing the settings.
Test one image before batching

Check the filenames, aspect ratios and output count. A single setting cannot guarantee identical visual quality across photographs, screenshots and transparent graphics.

Inspect the delivered asset in place
Open each important export and verify dimensions, file size, orientation, transparency and visible content. If you need to remove hidden photo details, treat metadata removal as a separate privacy check.
Upload the delivery copy and inspect the actual page or post preview. Check whether the platform crops it again or compresses it further. Ensure a meaningful image has an appropriate text description where the destination supports one.
Use a descriptive filename that distinguishes the version, such as product-front-card-1200.webp. Keep separate social and website exports so a later replacement does not accidentally use the wrong crop.

Formats store different kinds of content differently. Compare actual output and required compatibility instead of assuming conversion always means compression.
