The short version
Compatible Vootkit tools process files in your browser. When a tool is labelled as local or processed on your device, its working file is not uploaded to Vootkit. Tools that need live data, account storage or another online service are identified in their interface and may send the minimum information needed to provide that feature.
This policy covers Vootkit's website, accounts, tools, guides and support services. It explains what we collect, why we use it and the choices available to you.
Security and local processing
Local file tools process compatible files inside your browser tab, which reduces exposure by avoiding a file upload to Vootkit. Keep your browser and device updated, download results only to a device you trust, and use password protection or encryption when a document contains sensitive information.
What we collect
- Account information: email address, profile details, authentication records and plan status when you create an account.
- Local-tool files: files used in a tool explicitly labelled as local remain in your browser and are not stored by Vootkit.
- Online-feature inputs: the query or value needed to answer a live-data request. The relevant tool explains when an external service is involved.
- Support and newsletter information: the details you submit, such as your email address and message.
- Device, usage and consent information: page views, approximate region, browser/device type, diagnostics and your advertising or analytics choices, subject to consent where required.
- Local preferences: recent tools, favourites and interface preferences saved in browser storage on your device.
Why we use information
We use information to provide and secure accounts, run requested online features, respond to support, prevent abuse, understand site performance, improve Vootkit, meet legal obligations and—where permitted—measure or personalise advertising. We rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent or legal obligations as applicable.
Service providers and disclosure
We use carefully selected providers for authentication and account infrastructure, analytics, advertising, email or support, and hosting. They may process limited information under their own terms and our instructions. We do not sell your files. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
Advertising
Vootkit may be supported by advertising on eligible pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent where required. Ads are visually separated from tool controls and download actions. You can manage personalised advertising through Google My Ad Center.
Cookies
We use necessary browser storage and, subject to consent where required, analytics and advertising technologies. See the Cookie Policy for categories and controls.
Retention and security
We retain account, support, subscription and service records only as long as needed for the purposes described here, including security, dispute resolution and legal requirements. Retention varies by record type. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Children
Vootkit is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent and complain to your data-protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing. Use your account controls or contact us; we may need to verify the request.
International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, transfers are protected using recognised legal safeguards. Local-tool files are not transferred to Vootkit merely by using the tool.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
