How to use Learning Tracker
Provide the content or settings.
02Let the browser do the work.
03Copy, download or continue.
04Your files stay private
Your work is processed locally in your browser where possible and is never added to a Vootkit upload library.
Learn more about privacyStudy time is systematically misremembered — an evening that felt like three hours of work was often ninety minutes of work and ninety of drifting. Logging it turns an impression into a number.
What Learning Tracker does
Logs study sessions so you can see actual time spent rather than estimated time spent, kept in your browser between visits.
The honest total is usually lower than the felt one, and that gap is the useful finding.
How it works
| Logs | Study sessions with duration |
|---|---|
| Storage | Browser local storage, this device only |
| Syncs? | No |
| Survives clearing browser data? | No |
| Account needed | None |
| Best used | Logged at the end of each session, not weekly |
| Reveals | The gap between felt and actual study time |
| Uploaded anywhere | No |
Detailed steps
- Log each session as it ends, while the time is accurate.
- Record what you actually did, not what you intended.
- Review weekly and compare against what you assumed.
Worth knowing
Log the session immediately, not at the end of the week. Reconstructed times are consistently inflated — people remember the duration of the sitting rather than the duration of the work — and a log built from memory measures your optimism rather than your effort.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why track study time at all?
Because the estimate and the reality diverge sharply, and always in the same direction. Seeing that four claimed hours were two real ones is uncomfortable and far more actionable than any resolution to "study harder".
Will I lose my log?
It is stored in this browser only, so clearing site data removes it and it will not appear on another device. Copy the totals out periodically if a term’s data matters to you.
Should I count breaks?
No — count the work. A three-hour session with an hour of breaks is two hours of study, and recording it as three is exactly the self-deception this is meant to remove.
How often should I review it?
Weekly. Daily is too noisy to show a pattern and monthly is too late to change anything before an exam.
Is Learning Tracker free?
Yes. The Vootkit free plan includes 5 tool runs a day. Upgrade to Vootkit Pro for unlimited daily use, an ad-free workspace and saved workflows.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Learning Tracker runs entirely in your browser — your file is processed on your own device and never sent to a server. There is nothing for us to store or delete.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Learning Tracker works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone. Open the page and start.
How often can I use it? Is there a daily limit?
On the free plan you get 5 tool runs a day. When you reach the limit you'll see a prompt to upgrade, and it resets the next day. Vootkit Pro removes the cap entirely for unlimited daily use.
