Learn more about privacyStructured data is how a page tells search engines what it <em>is</em> rather than what it says — and it is what turns a plain result into one with stars, prices or an FAQ dropdown.
What Schema Markup Generator does
Generates JSON-LD markup, the format Google recommends, for common schema types.
JSON-LD sits in a script tag rather than being woven through your HTML, which is why it is preferred: the markup and the content stay independent, so a redesign cannot silently break your structured data.
Format and rules
| Format | JSON-LD — Google’s recommendation |
|---|---|

| <strong>Must match</strong> | <strong>Visible page content</strong> |
| Marking up invisible content | A guidelines violation |

| Validate with | Google’s Rich Results Test |
| Common types | FAQPage, Product, Article, BreadcrumbList |
| Runs | On your device |
Detailed steps
- Pick the type that genuinely describes the page.
- Fill in details that appear on the page itself.
- Validate with Google’s Rich Results Test before shipping.
Worth knowing
Never mark up content that is not visible on the page. Adding FAQ schema for questions a visitor cannot see, or review stars for reviews you do not display, is a guidelines violation — and the penalty is losing rich results across the whole site, not just that page. The markup describes the page; it must not exceed it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this get me rich results?
It makes you eligible, not guaranteed. Google decides per query whether to show enhanced results, and eligibility is necessary but not sufficient. Correct markup gets you into the running.
Why JSON-LD rather than microdata?
Google recommends it, and it separates the markup from the HTML. Microdata is woven through your elements, so a template change can silently break it; a JSON-LD block survives redesigns.
Can I mark up content that is not shown?
No. Structured data must reflect what a visitor sees. Marking up hidden FAQs or non-existent reviews violates the guidelines and risks a manual action that removes rich results sitewide.
How do I check it works?
Google’s Rich Results Test for eligibility, and Search Console’s enhancement reports once the page is live. Validation is fast and catches most mistakes before they matter.
