Learn more about privacyAn invoice is a demand for payment, and the reason it gets paid on time is rarely the design — it is whether the client can match it to a purchase order, find your bank details, and see a due date without reading twice.
What Invoice Generator does
Builds a printable invoice from line items, then produces it two ways: Print → Save as PDF, or a downloadable HTML file. There is no PDF library involved, which is why it stays fast and why the output uses your system’s own fonts.
Totals follow the standard order: subtotal, then discount, then tax on the discounted figure. That sequence matters — taxing before discounting overcharges the client, and is the single most common arithmetic error on hand-made invoices.
How it calculates and exports
| Line items | Description, quantity, unit price |
|---|---|
| Order of operations | Subtotal → minus discount → tax on the remainder |
| Tax | A percentage you set |
| Currency | Formatted with your locale’s conventions |
| Export | Print → Save as PDF, or download as HTML |
| Numbering | Yours to set — sequential is what accountants expect |
| Storage | Nothing is saved or uploaded |
| Privacy | Entirely on-device |
Detailed steps
- Enter your details and the client’s.
- Add line items — one line per thing you did, not one line saying "consulting".
- Set tax and any discount.
- Print to PDF, or download the HTML.
Worth knowing
Put the payment terms and the due date on the invoice as an actual date, not "net 30". Everyone reads a date; almost nobody converts "net 30" in their head, and an invoice whose deadline requires arithmetic is the one that sits in a pile.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is tax calculated before or after the discount?
After. The discount comes off the subtotal, then tax is applied to what remains — which is the standard treatment in most jurisdictions and the one your client’s bookkeeper will expect. Taxing first would overcharge them.
What should I number invoices?
Anything sequential and unique, and never reuse one. Most tax authorities require it, and gaps or duplicates are the thing an audit notices first. A simple 2026-001 pattern is enough.
Is this a legally valid invoice?
Requirements vary by country — many require your tax registration number, a specific date format, or particular wording for reverse-charge and cross-border work. This produces a clean, standard document; whether it satisfies your local rules is a question for your accountant.
Where is my data stored?
Nowhere. Nothing is saved between sessions and nothing is uploaded, so close the tab and it is gone. Download the HTML if you want a copy you can reopen and edit.
Is Invoice Generator free?
Yes. The Vootkit free plan includes 5 tool runs a day. Upgrade to Vootkit Pro for unlimited daily use, an ad-free workspace and saved workflows.

Do I need to install anything?
No. Invoice Generator works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone. Open the page and start.
How often can I use it? Is there a daily limit?
On the free plan you get 5 tool runs a day. When you reach the limit you'll see a prompt to upgrade, and it resets the next day. Vootkit Pro removes the cap entirely for unlimited daily use.
