What Repair PDF does
Rebuilds the PDF’s internal structure — the cross-reference table that tells a reader where each object lives — and writes a clean file. Where the page content is intact, this is often all that is needed.
It cannot invent data that is not there. A truncated download missing its second half stays missing; what repair fixes is a file whose parts are present but unreachable.

Worth knowing
Before repairing, try downloading the file again from its source. Interrupted transfers are the single most common cause of a corrupt PDF, and a fresh copy is a complete fix rather than a partial one. Repair is for when the original is genuinely gone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this recover a file that was cut off mid-download?
Only the part that arrived. Repair rebuilds the index to whatever data is present; it cannot reconstruct bytes that were never transferred. If the file is half the size it should be, download it again.
My PDF opens but shows blank pages.
Repair may help if the page objects exist but are not correctly referenced. If the content streams themselves are damaged, the pages will still be blank afterwards — the structure was not the problem.
Can it remove a password?
No. That is a different operation and needs the password — see Remove PDF Password. Repair works on structure, not encryption.
It says the file is not a PDF.
Then it probably is not. Files renamed to .pdf, or downloaded as an error page, will not open regardless. Check the real file type before assuming corruption.
