What Thumbnail Maker does
Resizes an image to one of six standard thumbnail sizes, either filling the frame and cropping, or fitting the whole image inside it on a background colour.
The fit mode decides what you lose. Fill and crop keeps the frame full and trims the edges; Fit keeps everything and pads the sides. Neither is right in general — it depends on whether the edges of your image matter.

Worth knowing
Check it small before you commit. Fine detail, thin text and low-contrast subjects all disappear at feed size, and the thumbnail that looked considered at full resolution reads as a grey smudge in a list. If the subject is not identifiable at 200 px, the design is wrong regardless of how it looks large.

Fill and crop, or fit?
Fill and crop for photographs, where trimming the edges costs nothing and a full frame looks stronger. Fit when the edges matter — a product shot, a screenshot, anything where cropping removes information. Fit adds bars, which is the trade.
Why is my image cropped oddly?
Fill and crop takes the centre of the frame. If your subject sits off to one side, crop it deliberately first with Crop Image and then run it through here.
Which size for a link preview?
1200×630. That is the Open Graph standard and it is what Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and most messaging apps expect. Anything else gets cropped unpredictably by each platform.
Will this make a small image bigger?
It scales to the target size, so a small source will be enlarged and will look soft. Start from the largest version you have — enlarging cannot recover detail that was never captured.
