A speed of 36 km/h equals 10 m/s because 36 is divided by 3.6. A speed of 60 mph is approximately 96.56 km/h, not 60 km/h. The numeric value can look plausible in either unit, so copying the unit is as important as copying the number.

Keep the source unit with the converted result. Avoid rounding before further calculations, particularly when using speed and duration to estimate distance.
Try a comparison
For a duration of ten seconds at 10 m/s, distance is 100 m. Repeat the check after converting 36 km/h to m/s first. Multiplying 36 by seconds without converting the hour unit is a common source of an implausible distance.
