How to use URL Tracker Cleaner
Provide the content or settings.
02Let the browser do the work.
03Copy, download or continue.
04Your files stay private
Your work is processed locally in your browser where possible and is never added to a Vootkit upload library.
Learn more about privacyThe link you copied probably has a tail of tracking parameters that identify where you got it and, often, who you are. Sharing it forwards passes that identifier to everyone who clicks.
What URL Tracker Cleaner does
Removes tracking parameters — utm_*, fbclid, gclid, msclkid, igshid, mc_eid and ref — leaving the link that actually points at the content.
These serve the sender’s analytics, not the destination. Removing them almost never changes where the link goes, and it makes the URL shorter and more readable.
What gets removed
|
utm_*
| Campaign tracking — source, medium, campaign |
|---|---|
|
fbclid
| Facebook click identifier |
|
gclid
| Google Ads click identifier |
|
msclkid
| Microsoft Ads click identifier |
|
igshid
| Instagram share identifier |
|
mc_eid
| Mailchimp — identifies YOU personally |
|
ref
| Generic referrer |
| Runs | On your device — nothing is transmitted |
Detailed steps
- Paste the URL.
- Clean it.
- Check the shortened link still works before sharing widely.
Worth knowing

mc_eid
is the one to care about. It is a Mailchimp subscriber identifier tied to your email address — so forwarding a newsletter link with it attached tells the sender that whoever clicked did so via you, and can associate those clicks with your identity. The others identify a campaign; that one identifies a person.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the link still work?
Almost always. These parameters are read by analytics rather than by the page itself. A rare site does use one for routing — check before sharing something critical, but the failure rate is very low.
Why bother?
Three reasons: shorter and more readable links, no passing of a click identifier to everyone you share with, and less data handed to the tracking network. The Mailchimp identifier in particular is tied to your own subscription.
Does this hide me from the destination site?
No, and it is important not to overclaim. The site still sees your IP address, your browser and any cookies it has already set. This removes parameters from the URL — one layer, not anonymity.
Is the URL sent anywhere?
No. The cleaning happens in your browser, so the link you paste is never transmitted.
Is URL Tracker Cleaner free?
Yes. The Vootkit free plan includes 5 tool runs a day. Upgrade to Vootkit Pro for unlimited daily use, an ad-free workspace and saved workflows.
Are my files uploaded?
No. URL Tracker Cleaner runs entirely in your browser — your file is processed on your own device and never sent to a server. There is nothing for us to store or delete.
Do I need to install anything?
No. URL Tracker Cleaner works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone. Open the page and start.
How often can I use it? Is there a daily limit?
On the free plan you get 5 tool runs a day. When you reach the limit you'll see a prompt to upgrade, and it resets the next day. Vootkit Pro removes the cap entirely for unlimited daily use.
